Culinary

ProStart is a career-based high school program, developed by the National Restaurant Association as a way to give high school students a head start in the field of Hospitality, Management, and Culinary Arts. Students learn basic kitchen skills, more advanced culinary skills, and business management.

If you are looking for a fun, valuable class that will teach you skills you will use for the rest of your life, ProStart is the class for you!

SLCC Partnership

All culinary students have the opportunity to earn dual enrollment with SLCC.

Students who begin as sophomores have the opportunity to earn a SLCC Technical Diploma at the same time they graduate from high school. This will also put them well on their way to earning an associate's degree.

Opportunities Upon Completion

Industry leaders support this program and are eager to hire these well-trained students. Cooks start at $9-$13/hour.

Students may also decide to continue their post-secondary education. There are opportunities for competition, scholarships, and lots of wonderful experiences!
