P-EBT
This is a program of the DCFS(Department of Children & Family Services). Questions about this program? Please contact LAHelpU.dcfs@la.gov or 1-888-524-3578 for more information.
If you received a card in your child’s name for the 2020-21 school year, do not throw the card away as future benefits will be issued to the same card.
Q: What students qualify for P-EBT benefits for the 2021-22 school year?
A: For students to qualify for the P-EBT benefits, the student must:
- qualify for free or reduced priced meals, or attend a CEP school,
AND - the student has COVID-related absences marked as 66-medical quarantine for COVID
Q: How is the amount of the benefit determined?
A: The amount of the benefit is based on the number of COVID-related absences in the month:
- 1-5 school days in a month = Tier 1 - $21.30
- 6-15 school days in a month = Tier 2 - $71
- 16 or more school days in a month = Tier 3 - $127.80
Q: How will the student receive the benefits?
A: If a child received P-EBT benefits last school year, any new benefits will be issued onto the same card. If a child is receiving benefits for the first time, a card will be sent to the student’s address on record at the school.
Q: What should a parent do if they no longer have the card and need a new one?
A: There is no need to contact the child’s school or the central office. The parent can request a new card through the P-EBT parent portal at: http://www.dcfs.la.gov/page/pebt-parent-portal
Q: What should a parent do if their child’s address was not correct on the student record at the school, and the card went to the old address?
A: The parent should bring proof of residency documentation to their child’s school to update the address in JCampus. Once updated, the parent can request that a new card be issued to the new address through the P-EBT parent portal at: http://www.dcfs.la.gov/page/pebt-parent-portal
Q: What is the DCFS P-EBT Planned Payment Schedule?
A: The DCFS P-EBT Planned Payment Schedule is:
- August 2021 - January 2022 will be issued in April 2022
- February - April, 2022 will be issued in May 2022
- May 2022 will be issued in June 2022

Q: What if I have more questions?
