Lafayette Parish Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Ann-Marie Tassin as the new Principal of J. Wallace James Elementary. With over 21 years of experience in education, Mrs. Tassin brings a wealth of knowledge and dedication to her new role.
Mrs. Tassin's journey in education began in 2003, first in Iberia Parish and later in Vermilion Parish, while she pursued her Pre-K through 3rd grade alternative certification. Her commitment to excellence was evident when she joined Carencro Heights Elementary in 2007, where she was honored as Teacher of the Year for the 2012-2013 school year and earned a certification in English as a Second Language. In 2015, she transitioned to L. Leo Judice Elementary. Her teaching experience spans high-performing and at-risk schools, covering Pre-K through 2nd grades, targeted kindergarten, and ESL kindergarten.
In 2019, Mrs. Tassin took on the role of Assistant Principal at Woodvale Elementary School and briefly served as the Assistant Principal at Katharine Drexel School. Over the past five years, she has demonstrated a solid commitment to building meaningful relationships with students and supporting their academic and personal growth.
A passionate advocate for Lafayette Parish Schools, Mrs. Tassin is honored to step into the role of Principal at J. Wallace James Elementary. She is deeply committed to fostering a supportive and nurturing environment for both students and faculty, reflecting her profound belief in the power of education to transform lives.

Mrs. Tassin earned a Bachelor of Human Resources from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and her Master’s in Educational Leadership from Louisiana State University at Shreveport.
