LPSS Appoints New Director of Child Welfare and Attendance
Dr. Rollan Moore has been appointed as the district's next director of child welfare and attendance. In this role, he will be overseeing various services aimed at improving student attendance, managing disciplinary matters, and implementing measures to prevent student dropouts.
“I am pleased to have Dr. Moore join the district leadership team,” states Interim Superintendent Francis Touchet. “His commitment to making decisions in the best interest of students combined with his experience in education make him a good fit for this position.”
Moore has over 17 years of experience in the field of education. He has served as a classroom teacher, academic behavior coordinator, assistant principal, and principal in several public school systems within the state. He most recently served as an assistant principal of Ovey Comeaux High School.
“I am excited to lead the work of the child welfare and attendance department. I look forward to working with the team to continue to provide exceptional service to schools and stakeholders, while assisting families with completing their pre-K-12 education successfully,” states Moore.
Moore has engaged in several instructional reform programs, including Harvard School Turnaround Leaders Institute, National Institute for Excellence in Teaching (NIET), National Institute for School Leaders (NISL), and School Administration Manager (S.A.M.) Project. He has been a part of several boards and associations, including the Lafayette Parish 4-H Foundation Board and Louisiana Association of Principals.
He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, a master’s degree plus 30 graduate credits from the University of Louisiana at Monroe, two educational specialist degrees from Arkansas State University, and a doctorate degree from the University of Southern Mississippi.
