The Lafayette Parish School System (LPSS) is pleased to announce that the district has been awarded the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting (COE) by the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO). ASBO International’s COE recognizes districts that have met the program’s high standards for financial reporting and transparency. LPSS earned the Certificate of Excellence for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) for the fiscal year ended 2021.
“It is remarkable that LPSS has received an award for excellence in financial reporting for our 2020-2021 Annual Comprehensive Financial Report,” says Anthony Mouton, director of finance, “It is even more uniquely impressive that LPSS has received this particular award for twenty-nine consecutive years. This award serves as a testament to the professional staff we possess and the high standards we place upon ourselves. Each year the financial reporting process bears a unique set of challenges, but because of the support of our business office staff and the expertise of our accountants these challenges are always put to rest. As we continue to learn, improve, and excel, we will always strive for excellence.”
By participating in the COE program, school districts demonstrate their commitment to financial transparency. Applicants submit their ACFR for review by a team of financial professionals who provide feedback to improve future documents. If the report meets the requirements of the program, it may receive the Certificate of Excellence. A district’s participation in the COE program can facilitate bond rating and continuing bond disclosure processes.
