Lafayette Parish School System Superintendent Appoints New Administrators

Lafayette Parish School System Superintendent Dr. Donald Aguillard has appointed Bridget Malveaux assistant principal at Comeaux High School, Amanda McHaney assistant principal at Southside High School, Jon Downs assistant principal at Green T. Lindon Elementary School, Kaye Victorian assistant principal at Milton Elementary/Middle School, Angela Boxie assistant principal at Judice Middle School, Heather Olson assistant principal at Broussard Middle School, and Shauna LeBlanc itinerant assistant principal at L. Leo Judice Elementary and Duson Elementary School. Dr. Aguillard also appointed Ralph Thibodeaux principal at the W. D. and Mary Baker Smith Career Center and Larry Alexander as the Director of Career and Technical Education/Magnet Academies.

Bridget Malveaux earned a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She has served as a teacher at Northside High School, the American International School of Lagos in Nigeria, the Lincoln Community School in Accra, Ghana; and Comeaux High School. She is currently serving as the instructional leader at Comeaux High School.

Amanda McHaney earned a Bachelor of Science and Master of Education Degree from Sam Houston State University. Ms. McHaney has taught at the Cambridge School and Timbers Elementary in the Humble Independent School District. She also taught at Conroe High School and Comeaux High School. She has twice been a Teacher of the Year nominee.

Jon Downs earned a Bachelor of General Studies and a Master of Arts in Teaching from U.L. Lafayette. Mr. Downs also earned an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership at Louisiana State University. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. at Louisiana State University and will be graduating in the fall of this year. Mr. Downs’ teaching experience includes one year teaching U.S. Government at the National Youth Leadership Council in Washington, D.C., two years as a special education teacher at St. Thomas More High School, and four years as a teacher at Milton Elementary/Middle School. He is currently the itinerant assistant principal at L. Leo Judice Elementary School and Duson Elementary School. He was named Teacher of the Year at Milton Elementary Middle School and Sons of the American Revolution Louisiana State American History Teacher of the Year.

Kaye Victorian earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from U.L. Lafayette and a Master of Education degree from L.S.U. Shreveport. She has served as an elementary teacher at South Street Elementary School in Opelousas. She was a librarian at Opelousas Senior High School, an administrative intern at Port Barre High School through the LA Leaders Fellows Program. She has been an assistant principal at Opelousas Jr. High School, principal at Creswell Elementary School in Opelousas, itinerant assistant principal at Milton Elementary/Middle and Youngsville Middle School, principal at Green T. Lindon Elementary School, and Library Science Specialist for the district.

Angela Boxie earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Southern University. She also earned over 30 hours of graduate credit beyond her Master’s degree as well as an Elementary Math Specialist certification from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Ms. Boxie has spent her career teaching at Edgar Martin Middle School. She has been a Lafayette Education Foundation (LEF) Teacher Award nominee and a Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teacher (PAEMST) nominee. She has been recognized as a Louisiana Association of Teachers of Mathematics (LATM) Outstanding Middle School Math Teacher finalist and has twice been named Edgar Martin’s Teacher of the Year. Ms. Boxie was also recently nationally recognized by winning the Milken Educator Award.

Heather Olson earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Northwestern State University and a Master of Education degree from McNeese State University. Ms. Olson has taught at Iberia Middle School, Edgar Martin Middle School, and Broussard Middle School. She has been recognized as Teacher of the Year at Broussard Middle School and Edgar Martin Middle School. She was named Lafayette Parish Middle School Teacher of the Year; she has been a Lafayette Education Foundation Teacher Award Nominee and has been named in Who’s Who Among Teachers and the National Honor Roll’s Outstanding American Teachers for Exceptional Performance in Motivation and Empowerment Today’s Youth Award.

Dr. Shauna LeBlanc earned a Bachelor of Science degree from U.L. Lafayette, a Master’s in Education from U.L. Lafayette, and a Ph.D. from Capella University. Dr. LeBlanc has served as a teacher at J. H. Williams Middle School, a teacher at Lafayette High school, and as a district K-12 Academic Science Specialist.

Ralph Thibodeaux earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from U.L. Lafayette, a Master’s Degree and an Educational Specialist designation from McNeese State University. Mr. Thibodeaux served as a teacher at Henry High School, Erath High School, and North Vermilion High School. He served as an assistant principal at Erath High School, and principal at Dozier Elementary School and Abbeville High School. He then transferred to the Louisiana Department of Education where he served as the High School Redesign Coordinator, Deputy Director of College and Career Readiness, Deputy Leader of Network 5, and most recently the Superintendent of Louisiana Special Schools.

Larry Alexander has earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Master’s in Education at Northwestern State University. He has served as an assistant principal and principal at Oberlin High School. He then moved to the Louisiana Department of Education where he has served for five years as a Network Deputy, Executive Director of Jump Start, and Executive Director of Career and Technical Education.
