Interim Superintendent Irma Trosclair has appointed Ms. Janine LaFleur, Director of Elementary Schools. Ms. LaFleur earned a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Education degree at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
Ms. LaFleur started her professional career as the assistant softball coach at Sam Houston State University. She then began teaching physical science and physical education at both Acadiana High School and Paul Breaux Middle School. Ms. LaFleur was then promoted to assistant principal of S.J. Montgomery Elementary School, followed by principal of the school for six years. She has spent the last two years serving the district as an academic specialist in the areas of social studies and English Language Arts.
During her career, Ms. LaFleur has been awarded District Softball Coach of the Year, Lafayette Parish School System Principal of the Year, and Paul Breaux Middle School Teacher of the Year. She was also a Lafayette Education Foundation Teacher Award nominee.
Ms. LaFleur is replacing Ms. Kathy Aloisio, who recently transferred into the role of Director of Middle and Secondary schools. Mr. Brian Hebert, former Director of Middle and Secondary schools, was appointed to the newly created position of Director of District Improvement.
