The LPSS Insurance & Benefits Department extends a warm welcome to the active and retired employees of the District. Our department administers insurance benefits for employees, retirees and eligible dependents of the Lafayette Parish School System. The Insurance Department is located at the District Office. Our address is 202 Rue Iberville, Lafayette, LA 70508. Our office hours are from 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. from Monday through Friday.
The Lafayette Parish School System offers a comprehensive benefits program for active employees who work a minimum of 30 hours a week (15 hours for employees contracted under Transportation). Employees may enroll in various benefit plans to include health and voluntary benefits during their first (30) calendar days of employment. Elected benefits deduct monthly from the employee’s payroll

The Group Health Insurance Plan of the Lafayette Parish School System is a self-funded plan whose claims are administered by a Third-Party Administrator, Louisiana Blue. LPSS offers three health plans to choose from. Employees may enroll in health plan benefits when hired, at open enrollment or during a "Special Enrollment Event" (as per the LPSS Louisiana Blue plan documents). For those employees who enroll, Group Health Insurance benefits begin on the 1st of the month following 30 days of employment.
- Hired on the 1st of the month = Effective on the 1st of the next month.
- Hired on the 2nd or later = Effective on the 1st day of the second month.

Employees have thirty (30) calendar days following your date of hire to enroll in benefits. Employer Basic Life: $5,000 Group Term Life benefit to include a $5,000 AD&D benefit.
Supplemental Life:
*Additional life insurance elected when you were actively employed by LPSS.
*Payments continue into retirement to maintain the policy.
*Retirees are unable to increase their Voya Supplemental life insurance post retirement.
