Reflecting on the past, the mother noted that her two older children had attended YMS during the pandemic, a time when the school atmosphere felt subdued. "YMS during those years was just ok," she shared. "There was not a ton of excitement in the hallways and there was little to no parent involvement."

However, her recent experiences have been markedly different. "The best thing I can share is it is just so much brighter!" she wrote, highlighting the vibrant energy now present in the school. "From administration, counselors, teachers, students, and parents—there is just excitement that was not there before."

"The teachers seemed genuinely happy to be teaching our children, and I am sure this is because of the support they are receiving from administrators."

Her optimism for the future of her child at YMS is evident. "While I know we are only a few weeks into the year, I am very optimistic about what the next few years will bring for my child. Middle school years are notoriously difficult, but I feel like we made the right decision in having our son attend YMS."

The mother concluded her letter by echoing Dr. Calais' belief in recognizing and celebrating student achievements. "As Dr. Calais told us today, sometimes we need to know when our children are doing great things, so this is my way of doing the same for her and the entire team at YMS."
