Dear J. Wallace James  students, families, and community members,

My name is Ann-Marie Tassin, your principal at JW James Elementary School. I am grateful for the opportunity to lead our fantastic staff and families. I look forward to continuing the mission of putting students first through, with, and in the Arts and Technology.

A little bit about me:

I have been married 22 years to my childhood sweetheart, B.J. Tassin. He is an incredible father and husband. Together, we have three amazing children that are growing into awesome young adults. Bailey is a graduate of DTSMA and SLCC. He owns Bailey's Lawn Care, LLC. Alivia and Braxton are both attending DTSMA. Alivia dreams of being an architect and Braxton is interested in landscaping at this time. They all were cross country and track runners like both of their parents. We love being in the outdoors with our extended family and friends. 

I truly love building relationships with students and staff. I am thrilled that I have the opportunity to do so at a school that not only teaches academics, but the arts as well. There is so much to be explored beyond academics that will affect the whole child later in life. I look forward to using my strengths and experience as an educator to enhance the lives of your families. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me for any reason. Brooke Fontenot

Assistant Principal

Mrs. Brooke Fontenot is a gem at J. Wallace James and makes our clock tick!!! She is 100% Starblazer through and through and absolutely LOVES everything about our school.  Mrs. Fontenot brings many skill sets to our team and our school that we need each day!  As our Assistant Principal, she strives to build positive relationships with the students while building their leadership skills. Mrs. Fontenot has two boys, William and Henry, that both attend J. Wallace James.  We are excited to have Mrs. Fontenot as a part of our Instructional Leadership Team!!!

Doni Kovatch

Mrs. Doni Kovatch is OUR ROCK!!  Mrs. Kovatch keeps us in line, helps EVERYONE with EVERYTHING and is the heart of J. Wallace James.  Both Ethan and Ava attended J. Wallace James and have carried on their success from J. Wallace James to high school and college.  Ethan is a collegiate soccer player and Ava is a high school chearleader.  Mrs. Kovatch has been at J. Wallace James since we opened, 23 years ago!  We love Mrs. Kovatch and she loves J. Wallace James!
