Applications for Lafayette Online Academy (LOA)
LPSS accepted applications for the Lafayette Online Academy (LOA) for the 2021-22 school year in the spring of 2021. Due to increased interest, a waitlist was opened from May - August, but will now close on Friday, August 27, 2021.
LOA applications for the 2022-23 school year will be available in spring 2022. Further information will be provided at that time.
Parents of students who have been notified of acceptance into LOA for the 21-22 school year must review the orientation appropriate for their child.
All parents must complete the two forms found at the end of each orientation in order to begin courses.
What is Lafayette Online Academy?
Established in 2017, Lafayette Online Academy (LOA) is part of the Lafayette Parish Public School System, offering the only free, local, online educational experience to K-12 students in Lafayette Parish.
Powered by courseware industry leader Edgenuity, LOA’s award-winning 6-12 curriculum is designed to engage, challenge and inspire student learning. This high quality online education is supplemented by individual tutoring and assistance provided by Lafayette Online Academy's elementary and secondary teachers.
Is Lafayette Online Academy a good fit for my student?
LOA recommends that parents/guardians consider each student’s specific needs, challenges and goals before enrolling in the Academy. While LOA is open to students of all ages K-12, younger children (K-5) tend to require strong and consistent adult involvement in their home learning. For older students (6-12), the ability to be self-motivated and manage time and schoolwork is very important.
