City of Scott and LCG Adopt Resolutions to Support the LPSS Sales Tax Proposition

At its meeting on April 6, 2017, the Scott City Council adopted a resolution to support the Lafayette Parish School System’s bid to the voters for a dedicated, fixed-term, 1⁄2 cent sales tax to replace 248 portable temporary buildings currently used as classrooms. The tax is proposed for 10 years. Jan- Scott Richard, Mayor Pro Tem said, “We are pleased to have supported the resolution put forth by the LPSS. In looking at the resolution in detail, we feel that the school board has done an extremely thorough job in presenting the dire situation facing our schools and their facilities. We have placed our faith and trust in the School Board and its members, to stand true to their word, and follow through with the details listed in the contractual resolution presented to the people in this proposition. The children of this parish deserve better and we look forward to the improvements that will be made throughout the parish, especially our hometown of Scott.”

The Lafayette Consolidated Government also endorsed the tax proposition at its meeting on Tuesday, April 4.
