From the Superintendent...

As Superintendent of the Lafayette Parish Schools, I am well aware of the growing needs of the communities in the southern part of the parish and support new schools being constructed there ASAP.  I also know that Mark Cockerham and two other Board members, Kermit Bouillion and Shelton Cobb, although not representing that part of the parish, readily recognize the needs.  Our intention after the November elections is to present a comprehensive plan to the new school board that has a new high school, a new pre-k to eighth grade school, and re-zoning to limit school sizes among those items that are at the top of the list of priorities.  It is our hope that with data and review, the new Board will agree to assist.  Read More 

 


Gold Star Recipient - October 2014  

Nominated by Dana McIntyre- this month's Gold Star is Violet Smith. Violet is an itinerant librarian for Gallet Elementary/L.J. Alleman. She also works as an adult education teacher at Carencro High School. During a recent visit to her class one of her students shared a story about Violet.
