Welcome Retired Employees

Retired employees of the Lafayette Parish School System enjoy many of the same benefits as our active employees, to include health and voluntary benefits, as long as premiums are kept current.

We have prepared an information booklet for our newly retired employees and for those planning retirement. Please read through this publication for answers to the most frequently asked questions about insurance coverage for retirees.

LPSS Humana Medicare Advantage Option

Retirees who are enrolled in Medicare Parts A and B also have an opportunity to elect Humana's private Fee-For-Service health plan instead of enrolling in the LPSS health plan. The advantages to joining Humana's plan include lower premiums and more benefits. For more information, open the document below and click on the links embedded in the document to see the benefits. You may also visit the local Humana office at 4422 Ambassador Caffery Parkway, Suite A. Their phone number is (337) 501-9809.

1. Print the instruction sheet .

2. Log on to the employee wellness portal using the directions provided.

3. Complete the required online health assessment (35 points).

4. Complete the required wellness exam (35 points). You may do so by participating in the Retiree Health Fair. If you cannot attend the Health Fair, a check-up with your primary care physician also counts.

5. Choose three other wellness activities listed on the instruction sheet and document it on the wellness portal (10 points each = 30 total points).

6.  Make sure you log all of your wellness activities online as instructed to receive the credit.
