PBIS
Positive Behavior Interventions and Support
Among the core beliefs of Scott Middle School are the concepts that ALL students can learn and ALL students can and will make good decisions if given the opportunity and proper guidance. These same principles are the foundation for Positive Behavior Intervention and Support or PBIS. The goal of PBIS is to promote, support and recognize the vast majority of students who exhibit desired behaviors day in and day out while providing interventions for those students who need assistance in order to help them develop productive academic and social skills.
The desired behaviors sought at Scott Middle School are expressed in our school-wide expectations:
Show respect, Observe rules, Act safely and Responsibly.
When students meet these expectations, they are rewarded in a number of ways. Daily, students can earn “Eagle Bucks” which come in different denominations ranging from 25 to 100, with higher values given to students who exceed expectations. “Eagle Bucks” can be used to purchase items in our PBIS store or purchase participation is monthly special dress days. Students can also be rewarded for their behavior over an entire grading period by earning special passes for good academics, perfect attendance and/or invitations to participate in special reward days for having no discipline referrals. The crown jewel is our FUN DAY at the end of the school year for students who did not receive a discipline referral the entire year. This day involves water slides, music, food and fun!
We believe all students at Scott Middle School can S.O.A.R.!!
