Rules and Policies
Expected Behaviors
- All OCHS school rules apply in the library.
- Be respectful of classmates, teachers, the library facility, and all materials and equipment.
- Students are expected to utilize the library for reading, working, or studying.
- While collaboration is encouraged, use quiet voices and speak respectfully.
- Have a signed pass from a teacher or staff member whenever individually using the library during regular class time.
- The privilege of using the library will be restricted if a student violates these rules.
Beautification
- In order to maintain the library environment, students need to be mindful to leave the library as they found it.
- This includes treating library materials with care and preserving shelf order and organization.
- Students should not remove chairs from their designated tables and should throw away all trash, push in their chairs, and return any borrowed items to the circulation desk prior to exiting the library.
Circulation
- All students are required to show photo ID prior to signing out material.
- Books are checked out for 3 weeks (15 school days).
- 3-5 books may be checked out at a time.
- If items are currently unavailable, you may ask to have it placed on hold. Pending holds expire in 21 days, while ready holds expire in 7.
- Students are responsible for all materials checked out under their name.
- In order to renew library materials, students must have the item present. Items may only be renewed once.
- A receipt will be emailed to a student as they check out materials. This is the student’s notice of when materials need to be turned in or renewed.
- Books are to be returned on or before the provided due date via the book drop-off slot located inside the circulation desk or drop box outside the entryway in the quad.
- Students may not check out any other item until overdue items are returned or renewed.
- Lost or damaged library materials will result in a replacement fee.
- Library materials must be returned before departing Ovey Comeaux High School during the school year or before the end of the school year.
- Reference materials may not be checked out or removed from the library.
Fines and Fees
- All fines and fees notices will be distributed throughout the school year for each progress report and report card for each nine week period.
- All damage fines and replacement fees must be paid before students register for fall classes or receive report cards throughout the year.
- Graduating seniors must also clear fines and fees in order to participate in the graduation ceremony.
Technology Use
- Chromebooks and the Internet must be used in accordance with the district’s Internet Acceptable Use Policy Form and instructions from library staff or school faculty and personnel. Failure to adhere to these policies will result in restriction from library and/or technology privileges.
- Chromebooks are assigned and checked out to each student. Any damages or issues must be reported via the Spartan Chromebook & Technology Request form. Students may be liable for repair or replacement fees.
- Students may utilize printers to print notes, class materials, and research.
- Students are not charged for printing, but may not print more than 10 pages at a time.
