Amanda Guidry, B.A., M.S.

Amanda L. Guidry, B.A., M.S., is the English and journalism instructor at the Early College Academy. A native of St. Landry Parish, Guidry attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where she earned both a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in Mass Communication & Journalism with a minor in art and a cognate in U.S.-Mexican Borderland Studies. While at the university, Guidry was the Editor-in-chief of The Vermilion, the student newspaper, and the Chief Editor of Vérité, a journalism magazine published throughout Louisiana. After college, Guidry worked as the Managing Editor of the news magazine The Acadian and taught as an adjunct instructor at Louisiana State University at Eunice. It was while working with her college students that she decided to teach her love of writing to others and began her journey as a public education ELA instructor. Guidry began working in the St. Landry Parish School System and became certified in ELA and journalism secondary education, as well as AP Literature. After five years in that system, she briefly taught in St. Martin Parish, and in 2013, she moved to Lafayette Parish School System to teach at ECA while also freelance editing and often teaching as an adjunct instructor at South Louisiana Community College.
