Project Front Yard Anti-Litter Contest Winners Announced
The Lafayette Garden Club, in partnership with Project Front Yard and the Bayou Vermilion Preservation Association, held its annual anti-litter poster contest. The purpose of this contest is to educate students on the importance of litter reduction and create more interest in projects that enhance our landscape. Select posters will be showcased at area businesses to bring awareness to the local impacts of litter.
2020 Litter Poster Contest Winners
The following are the winners from our three categories:
Elementary School – 4th and 5th grade
1st Place – Ja’den Celestine from Katharine Drexel Elementary School; Teacher: Loga
2nd Place – Sophia Duhon from Katharine Drexel Elementary School; Teacher: Lemen
3rd Place – Leilani Lambe Noel from J. Wallace James Elementary School; Teacher: Williams
Middle School – 6th and 7th grade
1st Place – Keilyn Lenormand from David Thibodaux STEM Magnet Academy; Teacher: Prudhomme
2nd Place – Alexis Dunckelman from David Thibodaux STEM Magnet Academy; Teacher: Prudhomme
3rd Place – Karla Marquez from David Thibodaux STEM Magnet Academy; Teacher: Prudhomme
High School – 9th and 10th grade
1st Place – Kyle Nguyen – “Don’t Litter, Save the Critters” from Lafayette High School; Teacher: Landry
2nd Place – Avi Weill – “Our World is Magical, Don’t Ruin It” from Lafayette High School; Teacher: Landry
3rd Place – Madison Lightfoot – “Be the Cure, Not the Disease”from Lafayette High School; Teacher: Landry
First, second, and third place winners within each of the three categories will receive a cash prize of $50, $30 and $20, respectively.
