Counseling Mission Statement

To prepare today's student to become tomorrow's adults through academic achievement.  To help students understand that their personal choices mold their choices for the future.  Our program strives to advocate for the promotion of a comprehensive, developmental, and preventive program that targets academic, personal/social, and career success.


 What does an elementary school counselor do?

  • Helps ALL children
  • Teaches classroom guidance lessons dealing with the understanding of self and others, communication skills, decision making skills, conflict resolution skills, study skills, and career exploration.
  • Facilitates group and small group counseling sessions.
  • Facilitates individual counseling sessions.
  • Consults with parents, teachers, and outside agency.
  • Develops and conducts parent workshops

 Faulk Counselors

Pre-K, K, & 1st Grade Counselor

Chastity Craven earned an Education degree from McNeese State University and a Masters in Counselor Education from Southern A&M University.  Ms. Craven has been a member of the Faulk family for two and a half years.  Prior to becoming a counselor Ms. Craven was a teacher at Carencro Heights Elementary.  Ms. Craven can be reached at 521-7684 or cecraven@lpssonline.com

4th & 5th Grade Counselor

Nekira Williams is a Health Care major with a Master's degree in School Counseling from Nicholls State University.  Prior to joining the J.W. Faulk family, Ms. Williams worked with the Recovery School District of New Orleans.  She began her experience at J.W.
