Lafayette Parish School System Superintendent Appoints New Administrators

Lafayette Parish School System Superintendent Dr. Donald Aguillard has appointed Connie Fontenot as principal of Duson Elementary School, Chad Guillory principal of Paul Breaux Middle School, Venus Soileau principal of Scott Middle School, and Alex Melton principal of the Early College Academy.

Connie Fontenot earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from UL- Lafayette and a Master of Education Degree from McNeese State University. She has served for 10 years as a teacher in the Lafayette Parish School System and has served eight years as an Assistant Principal with the Lafayette Parish School System. Her last position was at S. J. Montgomery Elementary School as an assistant principal. Ms. Fontenot has been awarded Woman of the Year and Single Parent of the Year for the National Association of University Women. She was chosen as a Teacher of the Year nominee and Teacher of the Year at Duson Elementary School.

Mr. Guillory earned a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Master of Education Administration degree from Southern University. Mr. Guillory taught 3rd Grade at the Southern University Laboratory School in Baton Rouge for five years. He taught middle school math at Broussard Middle School for nine years. He has served as the Academic and Behavioral Interventionist and Assistant Principal at David Thibodaux STEM Magnet Academy. Also, he served as Assistant Principal at Comeaux High School. Mr. Guillory was awarded Teacher of the Year at Broussard Middle School. He was a Louisiana Association of Teachers of Mathematics Teacher of the Year nominee and a Lafayette Education Foundation Teacher of the Year nominee.

Ms. Venus Soileau earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from UL-Lafayette. She earned a Master of Education Degree in Educational Leadership from the American College of Education. Ms. Soileau served as an English teacher at Paul Beaux Middle School; she has served as a Data Analyst, Academic Behavior Interventionist, and Assistant Principal at Acadian Middle School. She has also served as the Instructional Strategist at Scott Middle School. Her most recent position was Assistant Principal at Paul Breaux Middle School. Ms. Soileau was recognized as the 2012 Lafayette Parish Middle School Teacher of the Year.

Mr. Melton received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the University of Louisiana Lafayette. He came to us from the Episcopal School of Acadiana where he served as a math teacher and the Middle School Dean of Students for 12 years. Prior to going to ESA, he served as a math teacher at Broussard Middle School and Cathedral-Carmel School. His most current position has been Assistant Principal at David Thibodaux STEM Magnet Academy where he has served for the last 5 years.

Dr. Aguillard has also made some appointments to assistant principal positions. He has appointed Katherine Rayburn to Katharine Drexel Elementary School. Mrs. Rayburn will be replacing Mary Arnie who retired. Dawn Weimer has been appointed assistant principal at J.W. Faulk Elementary School. Paula Broussard will be replacing Connie Fontenot as assistant principal of S.J. Montgomery Elementary School, and Laurie Venable will be replacing Rhonda Dickerson as assistant principal at Ossun Elementary School. Peggy Stefan and Gerald Comeaux will serve as assistant principals at Comeaux High School.

There are vacant assistant principal positions currently being advertised at Carencro Heights Elementary School, Duson Elementary School, L. Leo Judice Elementary School, Paul Breaux Middle School, Edgar Martin Middle School, Judice Middle School, and David Thibodaux STEM Magnet Academy.
