PARENTS' PLACE

Here at J.W. Faulk, we know that the learning does not stop when our kids leave school.  It must continue at home, too.  We are always ready to give parents ideas to help our students' learning continue.  On this page you'll find different websites and iPhone apps that have fun (and educational!) games that your child will enjoy.  You'll also find information about our school and information that we think is beneficial for parents.

All parents want their child to be successful.  Here are a few tips on how you can help your child be as successful as possible.

Here are some websites that we think are great to use at home:

Visit this website to see a list of the top free educational apps for iPhones.  Some of these may be available for Android phones, as well.

All children love to have books read to them -- no matter what their age is!  The younger you start reading to your child, the better.  The benefits of reading to your child at home are endless.  At first we teach children to learn to read and then children read to learn.  Reading is the most important subject in school because if a child can't read successfully, then they will struggle in the rest of their subjects.  For example, the Science and Social Studies information will be hard to understand and math word problems will be difficult if your child's reading skills aren't where they should be.  Take a look at this website and these pamphlets for benefits of reading to your child.

Dolly Parton has a program called Imagination Library.  Children ages 0-4 receive one book a month until their 4th birthday.  This program is free!  All you need to do is register your child.
